talent & workforce
Finding, developing, and retaining employees is critical to business success. Huron County EDC works alongside employers, educators, workforce agencies, and regional partners to connect businesses with resources that help meet today’s workforce needs while building the talent pipeline for the future.
Our strategic work recognizes that the labor shortage is structural: population decline, an aging workforce, housing, child care, talent retention, and attraction all intersect.
Find & Hire Talent
Whether you’re filling one position or building a team for an expansion, you don’t have to navigate hiring alone. Workforce partners can help employers recruit candidates, post opportunities, identify available talent, and connect with job seekers.
Build Your Talent Pipeline
Building a strong workforce starts long before a position becomes available. Partnerships between employers, schools, training providers, and community organizations can help young people understand the career opportunities available right here in the region.

Huron County Comeback Internship Program
Creating a Path Back Home
The Huron County Comeback Internship Program connects college students with paid professional internships at Huron County employers. The program gives students meaningful experience in their field while helping local businesses build relationships with potential future employees.
Retain the People You Have
A strong workforce depends on more than jobs.
Where people choose to work is closely connected to where they can build a life. Housing, child care, community amenities, career opportunities, and quality of life all influence an employer’s ability to attract and retain employees.
Finding employees is only part of the equation. Employers are increasingly looking at the conditions that help people stay—from workplace culture and career advancement to child care, housing, transportation, and other quality-of-life factors.
Attracting Talent to Michigan’s Forgotten Coast
Building Huron County’s workforce isn’t only about developing the talent already here. It’s also about giving people a reason to come, or come back.
Through the Forgotten Coast initiative, the Huron County EDC is working to showcase Michigan’s Thumb as a place where people can build meaningful careers while enjoying the quality of life that makes our region distinctive.
The initiative connects talent attraction with the things that ultimately influence where people choose to build a life: career opportunities, housing, community, recreation, and a strong sense of place.
Not Sure Where to Start?
