Housing affects nearly every part of Huron County's economy from an employer's ability to recruit workers to a family's ability to remain in the community.
Expanding the range, quality, and availability of housing options is an important part of supporting our workforce, strengthening our communities, and preparing for future growth.

Huron County is undertaking a countywide Housing Readiness Study to better understand existing housing conditions, identify unmet needs, and develop actionable strategies for communities across the county.
The study will combine housing and demographic data with input from residents, employers, communities, developers, and other stakeholders to identify both countywide trends and local housing needs.

Housing Solutions Start Locally
Communities play an important role in creating the conditions for housing development. Zoning, infrastructure, available land, development processes, local plans, and community priorities can all influence whether housing projects are feasible.
HCEDC works with local communities and partners to identify housing needs, explore barriers to development, and connect communities with resources that can help them prepare for future housing investment.
