Now Accepting Applications: Community Growth Fellowship 2026

Are you or someone you know passionate about strengthening Michigan communities and helping shape a more resilient economic future? The Huron County Economic Development Corporation is now accepting applications for the Community Growth Fellowship, beginning January 2026!

What Is the Community Growth Fellowship?

The Community Growth Fellowship is a 15-month, full-time professional opportunity for individuals eager to make a difference in Michigan’s local economies. Fellows are placed with local governments, nonprofits, and coalitions across the state to help design and implement strategies that drive economic resilience, workforce development, small business growth, and inclusive community planning. The selected fellow will be based on-site at the Huron County Economic Development Corporation in Bad Axe, Michigan.

This program is part of the Community Growth Academy, an initiative of Michigan’s Community & Worker Economic Transition Office, and is managed by CEDAM.

What Fellows Will Do

As a Community Growth Fellow, you will:

  • Provide meaningful capacity support to local organizations and public agencies

  • Help design and deliver strategies for economic and community development

  • Engage in training, networking, and professional development to build your career in the field

Why Apply?

Fellows receive a $75,000 salary, along with health care benefits (including dental, vision, and mental health support), relocation assistance, and a completion bonus. No degree or formal work experience is required, applicants must simply be 18 years or older and motivated to make a difference.

We encourage all those who are interested to apply, especially individuals from historically underserved communities and those who are passionate about building inclusive local economies.
