Huron County Economic Development Corporation Launches Placemaking Grant
The Huron County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is excited to announce the launch of our Placemaking Grant Program. This program is designed to gather ideas directly from community members and allow residents to vote on the projects they believe will have the greatest impact. By doing so, the program will help identify missing amenities or activities in Huron County, provide funding to bring projects across the finish line, and empower residents to take an active role in shaping their communities.
What is Placemaking?
Placemaking is a people-centered approach to planning, designing, and managing public spaces. It involves collaboration with community members to transform underutilized areas into vibrant, welcoming places that reflect the local identity; think parks, festivals, public art, or even trash cans in a downtown corridor. When done well, placemaking strengthens community ties, stimulates economic activity, and enhances the quality of life for residents.
Program Goals
The Placemaking Grant Program aims to:
Support projects that create vibrant, attractive, and inclusive spaces for residents and visitors.
Identify gaps and opportunities for new amenities in Huron County.
Fund projects that need between $100 and $10,000 to become reality.
We welcome projects of all sizes and encourage anyone with an idea to apply. Whether your project is big or small, this program is here to help bring it to life.
